You’re a Lifesaver

April 20, 2014 No Comments

Happy Easter everyone.  Thanks for taking time out of this day to stop by my blog.

While I announced on Tuesday that Oh Hello would be used this week for #stampingsunday, I didn’t create until this morning.  I generally create on a daily basis for a couple of reasons.  One, it keeps me fresh and exercises my creativity.  And two, I tend to procrastinate a bit.

Last night as I began to think about what I wanted to do with Oh Hello this morning, my daughter and I were web surfing and sharing what appealed to each of us.  It was fun virtual window shopping.  One of the things that I liked was a traditionally cut skirt with a blocked pattern similar to the way I used the horizontal blocks below.  That was my jumping off point.

Let’s look at the card and I’ll tell you more about it.

Oh Hello for #stampingsunday by theartfulinker.com

I used the chevron oval and stamped it a couple of times in both Real Red and Midnight Muse.  I’m going to miss Midnight Muse as it is retiring.  It has been my go to dark blue the last couple of years.  Using my Stampin’ Trimmer, I trimmed the ovals into rectangular blocks of varying widths.

Then using my Midnight Muse Stampin’ Write marker, I colored and stamped “You’re” from “You’re Invited” and the “A” from “Thanks So Much”.  The new phrase was cut with the smallest Ovals Collection framelit.  Next to the “A” , I added three Real Red Brights Candy Dots.

Next, I punched a life preserver using my 1″ and 1 3/4″ circle punches.  To make the red bakers twine, I squirted  several drops of Real Red ink refill into an empty button container and added about a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol.  Then, I swirled a piece of White Bakers Twine around in the liquid and hung it to dry.  The alcohol helps it to dry quickly.  After wrapping my life preserver with the red bakers twine, I adhered the twine with a Glue Dot.

Preparing my Whisper White card base, I added a piece of Fresh Prints designer paper and thin strips of Midnight Muse cardstock.  The color blocks were glued down and then the sentiment and life preserver were added with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

So there’s my totally different take on Oh Hello for #stampingsunday.
