As I look out my window this morning, I wish it were a bit warmer and I wish it were not snowing – even lightly. I was thrilled that when it was time to head to school it was light, even bright, out. Can you tell I’m wishing for Spring? I know it’s not long now. But, I’m ready.
What does this have to do with the Layers of Gratitude Paper Pumpkin that arrived over the weekend? Well… everything, since I usually can’t leave well enough alone. I saw those accordion card blanks and the wheels started turning.
If I can’t have Spring right now, I thought why not make a little Spring decor so that I’ll be ready in a couple…. four…. six weeks.
I used the stamps and Stampin’ Spots included in the Layers of Gratitude Paper Pumpkin to create my backgrounds on each panel.
Then, I used My Digital Studio and the Noteworthy Alphabet to create the letters. They’re colored Calypso Coral and then fussy cut – I was being too lazy to import them into my e-cutter.
For the “N” and “G” panels, I played with layering colors. On the left panel, I stamped off first. And on the right hand panel, I added the Daffodil Delight fairly quickly and was rewarded with a green tone.
And finally, for the front and back panels I used an image from Petal Potpourri that I inked in Daffodil Delight. After punching it out, I snipped between the petals and gently curled them using my bone folder.
I’m in love! My family may find me staring fondly at this piece from time to time in anticipation of the arrival of Spring.
