Hi! Welcome to my blog. I’m Sara Levin aka the artful inker. Yesterday, I spent the day driving. I had been in Virginia with my daughter and we were visiting my mom. But, it was time to take my daughter back to school — Spring break was over. So, we toured the mountains of Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania on the way back to school and then home. Needless to say, it was a beautiful drive. It was also the inspiration for my Waterfront Through the Winter Mountains card.
Waterfront Through the Winter Mountains
As I came around a bend yesterday in the late afternoon, I looked up and the mountains appeared a light-ish purple.
My first thought was, “I have to try to recreate this scene.”
So, I took in the details so that I could try my hand at it this morning.
I started with a Thick Whisper White base.
Then, I repeatedly stamped the mountain image from Waterfront in Sweet Sugarplum.
By layering the image, I was able to get some of the texture and shadowing.
At the base of the mountains, I stamped a thin band of Smoky Slate.
Then, I used the same image to fill the rest of the space at the bottom with Old Olive.
Above the mountains, I started with Soft Sky.
Then, I added layers of Marina Mist, Night of Navy and Smoky Slate.
And in the little gaps that were left just above the mountains, I brushed in some So Saffron.
To create a little added dimension, I cut a 3″ square from the center of the panel.
Then, I mounted it on a 3-1/8″ piece of Whisper White
before adhering it to the card front with Dimensionals.
Thanks for stopping by today and checking out my Waterfront through the winter mountains card!
