It was another play day for me this morning. I spend part of each week doing research. Sound boring? Not a chance! I’m looking for new trends. It’s so much fun to then take those trends and make them mine using the Stampin’ Up! products that I love.
One of the HOT trends right now in papercrafting is water coloring. Let me tell you, it couldn’t be easier. I’ll walk you through the process as I show you today’s creation.
I used a piece of Watercolor Paper and the chevron from Work of Art. The image was repeated using inks in: So Saffron, Pool Party, Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Pear Pizzazz, Calypso Coral. I let all of the ink completely dry and then, using a Stampin’ Spritzer filled with water, I spritzed the entire sheet. Then, the sheet was turned so that the colors would run down the length of each chevron. This allowed the color to bleed slightly but not mix across the other shades.
Tip: Don’t use alcohol in your spritzer. This will set the ink. Ask me how I know.
I really love the way the watercolor turned out. But, thought I had to add something else to the card. My choice was one of the sentiments from Perfect Pennants. I stamped this in White Craft ink on Coastal Cabana cardstock and then embossed with White embossing powder. Then using Banners Framelits, I cut out the sentiment. After punching holes in either corner of the banner, I threaded Coastal Cabana Thick Baker’s Twine through and then around the watercolor layer.
The Basic Rhinestones in the corner make me think of water droplets. Isn’t this technique a cool, easy way to create either a layer or a focal image? You’ll have to try it.
Now each day this week as I’ve posted, I’ve forgotten to mention the stamp set we’ll be using for #stampingsunday. This Sunday, May 25, we’ll be using Flower Shop.
So put on your thinking caps. I’ll be checking to see what everyone makes. Be sure to include the hashtag #stampingsunday in your description. This helps everyone find the week’s creations.
