Welcome to this week’s edition of the Creation Station blog hop. Our creative team has Fall in mind for our creations. We’re focusing on Vintage Leaves, Acorny Thank You and some of the specialty papers that are available in the catalog.
Vintage Leaves was one of the sets that I purchased way back in June. While I knew it was months away from it’s heaviest use, I just loved the size, shapes and detail of the leaves. I’ve played with Vintage Leaves in a couple of different ways for my offerings today.
The first is just for fun and has lots of uses during the Fall and really all year round.
If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll know that the Gift Bag Punch Board is another of my favorites. As I was contemplating what I might make for today that would be a little different, the idea of feathers struck me followed by the owl.
Though it’s hard to tell in my photo, this little owl is a box rather than a card. I’ve used leaves from Vintage Leaves as the feathers for his wings.
His eyes are a 1″ circle layered on a 1 1/2″ circle.
I didn’t have time to get a video ready for today but check back tomorrow and I’ll have one for creating the owl body with the Gift Bag Punch Board.
Next, I went a different direction and was thinking a Fall dinner with friends. Here’s a little something to dress your table.
I love creating seasonal napkin rings.
They’re a fun, easy way to change things up on my table without having to invest in new dishes or linens.
To create the basic “ring”, I used the new Square Pillow Box die.
I like the arc at the top and bottom of the box and thought that same arc would be pretty for the shape of the ring rather than just a straight band.
To the ring, I added a couple of leaves stamped with images from Vintage Leaves. After cutting out these leaves with the Leaflets Framelits, I cut two more leaves from Glassine Sheets. Using daubers, I tinted the Glassine leaves with Old Olive and Blackberry Bliss ink. They turned out lovely translucent shades. And the Glassine is wonderful! It has such body! I did nothing more than lightly crumple the leaves and they held the shape.
After winding some of the Gold Cording Trim through the leaves, I decided the napkin ring needed one more thing. The finishing touch was one of the acorns from Acorny Thank You. Love them!!
Now that you’ve seen what I’ve created for today, it’s time to check out the rest of the crew.
Don’t forget to stop back tomorrow for the video for creating the Owl Box.
