Several weeks ago, I worked on a project that used a lot of lace. The lace came on these large spools and when I was done, I had about fifteen or sixteen of them. Sometimes when I finish/empty a container, I have a hard time throwing it out because I’m just sure I can do/make something with or from it. That was the case with the spools. I knew right away that I wanted to try a small flower arrangement but, I just didn’t get around to it. Flowers and Mother’s Day seemed like a good combination. So, that’s what I’ve played with this afternoon while I waited for my daughter to finish her work so we could go play together.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Here are some flowers for you:
I started by wrapping the spool with Basic Gray cardstock and a band of Flowerpot designer paper. Then, I added a length of Gold Sequin Trim.
Using the Bouquet Bigz L Die, I cut flowers from Crushed Curry and Pool Party. Then, I added some Garden Green leaves. The petals and leaves were all gently shaped with my bone folder.
In order to layer the flowers to make them fuller, I snipped them apart and overlapped petals. This allows the layers to stack nicely and stand apart. A hot glue gun works best for putting the flowers together.
The top and bottom of the spool were covered with circles of Garden Green cardstock to give it a more finished look.
The sentiment from Honeycomb Hello is inked with Basic Gray on Whisper White and punched with the Artisan Label punch (retiring).
I think these would make wonderful table favors or gifts for a coworker’s desk. Or, how about for a favorite teacher?
