My daughter and I spent part of this morning helping to prepare for a congregational luncheon. I played prep cook and dishwasher while she helped with set up in the social hall. Afterwards, we grabbed a quick sandwich before heading over to Lafayette College. She was contacted yesterday about an opportunity to participate in an art program this afternoon. She was all over it! I can’t wait to pick her up and hear about what she learned today. During this quiet couple of hours, I thought I’d share this morning’s creation with you. I’ve had cupcakes on the brain for a couple of days now. Yesterday, I picked up a couple so that I could try out my idea. This morning, I got to work early and have this Swirly Scribbles Popcorn Box for the 4th of July to share with you.

Swirly Scribbles Popcorn Box for the 4th of July
I created this patriotic cupcake holder and the “sprakler” pick.
I’ve used Real Red and Pacific Point cardstocks and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.
First, I cut two of the long scribbles, from Swirly Scribbles, in Pacific Point.
Then, using the Popcorn Box Framelits I cut two 3-/14″ x 5″ pieces of Real Read cardstock. By placing the pieces where they cover the bottom of the die, it will cut everything you need to put the two halves together.
After adhering the sides of the box together using Tear and Tape, you’ll want to take your scissors and snip a little off of two of the sides . They’re just a bit too tall at one end otherwise. Once this is done, adhere the bottom flaps with Tear and Tape.
Next, you’ll wrap the long Pacific Point scribble around two sides. Crease it between sides one, two and three. You’ll notice that on the third side the scribble goes too high — just like in the picture. Trim the excess at the crease between sides two and three but don’t throw the piece(s) away. Adhere sides one and two with Multipurpose Glue. Once the adhesive has set. Repeat with the other long scribble. With this one, you’ll notice that one end matches up to the scribble that is already adhered.
Once this is done, you’re ready to cut eight Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper stars. You’ll find the star die is part of the Popcorn Box Framelits.
Adhere the stars two to each side of the box.
Next, you’ll take the bits of the two Pacific Point scribbles that you removed.
Give them a gentle pull across your Bone Folder to soften and slightly curl them.
Using a toothpick and a glue gun, adhere the Pacific Point pieces to create the sparkler pick.
These will be fun to make for your 4th of July picnic or party!
Not only will your cupcakes look extra good but, they’ll double as holiday decor.
