I have really chased my tail today trying to find some creative mojo. It got so bad that I was reduced to cleaning. This was an emergency situation that could not be allowed to go on. The only solution? Turn to the internet and see if I could find some inspiration. Whew!! After a few minutes of surfing, I was ready to try my hand at creating.
I tried something new today and combined with an old favorite, watercoloring for TGIFC06. This is something I’ve been wanting to give a try since I watched a product reveal from CHA back in January.
I tried foiling. I’ve had this pack of foil in my supplies for 2 or 3 years. By the time I purchased it, I had forgotten why it was on my list.
The base is Basic Gray followed by a piece of the Basic Gray designer paper in the Neutrals Stack.
Then, I added a piece of Shimmery White that I watercolored with Mint Macaron, Blushing Bride and So Safron ink refill mixed with a little alcohol.
Once the watercolor layer was ready, I inked the Swallowtail with Versamark and stamped. Then, I added Heat and Stick and heat set it.
After adding my sheet of foil, I ran this layer through my hot laminator and voila I had a foiled Swallowtail.
Due to the fine detail of the stamp, I ended up with all over foiling. And where I hadn’t gotten good ink coverage, the foil didn’t stick, giving me a distressed look that I liked.
Over the Swallowtail are a piece of a Tea Lace Doily and Jute Ribbon through which I’ve sewn a piece of Black Bakers Twine.
A few of the smallest Basic Rhinestones seemed like the finishing touch.
This was fun!
Expect to see me try this with other stamps and die cuts.

Looks so interesting Sara. I have seen so many idea with foil of late, I think I need to play with it.
I think you do too Teneale. I’ll keep my eye out for what you create.
