Our guest designers today are Amy Koenders and Jessie Holton – thanks for joining us! This week we’re previewing the Wood Textures Suite. I know you’re going to love the variety of creations we have in store for you today!
Wood Textures Suite – Wood Words and Wood Crate
I’ve created for two different occasions.
–
–
The first occasion is a wedding or bridal shower.
Crates seem to be everywhere right now!
And as I was playing this week, I came across this gorgeous wedding
photo montage and had an aha moment.
I used the Wood Crate Framelits to cut Smoky Slate cardstock.
Then I used the Harwood stamp inked inVersamark before embossing in White.
After assembling the crate (super easy!), I made a little lid.
–
–
Next, I made little tea roses in Powder Pink and Very Vanilla (again super easy).
Finally, I accented the flowers with Vellum cut with one of the Succulent Framelits.
It gave some of that light airy feel.
Now, it just needs a little goodie inside and it’s ready for a wedding or shower.
–
My second Wood Textures Suite creation could
be for Father’s Day or Graduation.
–
–
For my gift card holder, I started with a Dapper Denim card base.
Then, I added a belly band cut from Wood Textures designer paper.
Next, I added three Crushed Curry stars cut with the Wood Crate Framelits.
And finally, I added a tag cut with the framelits and stamped with a sentiment from Wood Words.
The tag is tied on with several loops of Linen Thread.
Inside…

I used half of a Wood Crate to create a gift card holder.
It easily holds to gift cards — so splurge on your dad or graduate!

I’d love to be your demonstrator if you’re in the United States!
I love the crate and roses, Sara. Is the how to for roses here on your site. I’ve had little flowers on the brain for several weeks but couldn’t find a pattern. Been sick again — new med regime tomorow.
Thank you Patti! I actually thought of you after posting this. I’m taping a short video on the roses tomorrow and will post it on Wednesday.
OH these are gorgeous. I LOVE the gift card holder, so clever, I may have to CASE you Sara if that’s Ok. This is one of my favourite sets from the new catalogue so far and I’m so pleased you have a whole hop devoted to it.
So glad to have inspired you Elizabeth!
I knew there had to be a use for the slats in the wood crate die! Brilliant to use it as a gift card holder. I love to see alternative uses like that! And your crate with the flower toppers is beautiful. I love the grey! Thanks for sharing your talent with all of us!
Thanks Lynsay! I love to find alternate uses for dies as well.
Amazing Sara! That wedding box is stunning. I want to get married again now there’s Pinterest! And the gift card holder – awesome inspiration! Kelly x
Thanks Kelly! I think that’s one of the things that I enjoy about creating wedding invitations, favors, etc. for customers — I get to do some of the wedding things!
Your projects are fabulous Sara! Love the little crate with the pretty rolled roses and your card with the belly band and gift card holder inside it perfect. Great designs! 🙂
Thank you Amy! The Wood Words bundle was lots of fun to play with.
Sara, I love your wedding creation with the crate and the roses! So very pretty—is there a tutorial somewhere for these roses?
I also really love the idea of using part of the crate to hold gift cards—genius!
Thank you Linda! I’d be happy to share a tutorial for the roses.
What a fabulous idea to use the crate as a gift card holder! The flowers are beautiful and look stunning on the crate lid!
Thanks a bunch Lea! I LOVE to play with the framelits.
Love your projects Sara! The crate with flowers looks so beautiful in the soft colors.. Thank you so much for having me in this team! x
Thanks so much Yvonne! These things always make me want to have a party. So glad you joined in the fun!
I love the little box and using that box as a gift card holder is genius. Wonderful projects!
Very kind of you Danielle! The crate may end up being a new favorite of mine.

Thank you Jessie! And thank you for hopping along with us this week and sharing your creative take on the Wood Textures Suite.
I just love the idea of using half of the wood crate as a gift card holder!
Glad you like this way of using the crate Miriam!
Wow, Sara. Both of your projects are amazing. Different ways to convert the crate; add a lid or make a gift card holder. Brilliant. D x
Thank you for the lovely comment Denita.

Hello Sara, two great creations! The box with lid is charming and I love paper roses! The card is also great! The idea to make a gift card holder inside with the part of the crate is brilliant!

Wow … seriously Sara, that little wood crate gift card holder inside your card is brilliant!!! Love. xxx
Thank you Cheryll! I always say that’s what happens when I leave bits and pieces laying out.
