Earlier this week, my friend Liz hosted a private class for a group of her friends. It was a chance to play with some of the new Christmas stamps and hang out. During this class, I showed both simple and more elaborate cards using the chosen stamp sets. I think everybody makes a few special cards for Christmas and then we come up with something that is both pretty and can be made in larger numbers. That’s the focus of my Simple Saturday card.
I used the Embellished Ornaments (which I just love).
I’ve used Very Vanilla cardstock for my base and added a layer of Crumb Cake designer paper from the Neutrals Stack. This was followed by a layer of Very Vanilla and then my focal piece.
I stamped the image from Embellished Ornaments in Crumb Cake and then cut it out with the coordinating Delicate Ornament Thinlits.
At the top of the ornament is a piece of Gold Foil paper cut with one of the Delicate Ornament Thinlits. And in the center of the ornament is a Gold Glimmer Paper poinsettia cut with the Delicate Ornament Thinlits. The new Fine Tip Glue was perfect for adding adhesive to the glimmer poinsettia.
Tip: When using the Fine Tip Glue, allow it to dry for a couple of moments before placing the two pieces together. Then leave it to sit. This glue takes a couple of minutes to set up and you don’t want to smear it.
The final detail is a Basic Pearl in the center of the glimmer paper poinsettia.
Tip: If you plan to make many of these cards, not only do you have the Crumb Cake designer paper in the stack but, you could use the Gold and Sahara Sand to stay in the same tone range. Then change it up a bit and use the Smoky Slate and Silver sheets. Finally, you’ll enjoy Soft Suede and perhaps even black for striking simple cards.
