Today I’ve created with the September Paper Pumpkin Kit, Boo-tiful Bags, again. And, I’ll play with it again this evening during my monthly Paper Pumpkin Playdate. I think I could have easily called myself the “what else” crafter as I’m always asking myself, “what else can that be? or what else can I do with that?”. As soon as I got to play with pieces of this month’s kit waaay back in July during Convention, I began to think of alternate ideas for the cute bags.
At least once a month since last Thanksgiving, I’ve been thinking about how I might do my place settings. Do you remember the great kit Stampin’ Up! offered last year for creating your place settings, etc? Well I used it and it was a hit.
Keeping that in mind, here’s one idea for Thanksgiving (I think I’ll need to purchase a refill kit or two!)
These bags are the perfect size for the usual place setting silverware. And, I love pattern mixing. The dots and stripes on the bags will just add another layer of pattern to my table. I think they will work for many tables — even if your dishes aren’t as busy as mine 🙂
I added a band of Very Vanilla to the bag. Using the Dots and Stripes masks, I daubed on Gold polka dots. You’ll want to heat set the ink if you’re in a hurry like me. Then, I gently used my bone folder to soften the cardstock so that it bent around the bag rather than buckling or creasing.
The focal point on the band is the Cajun Craze rose that has been dusted with Gold Stampin’ Glitter. To make this extra full rose, check out this video.
Next, I added a few of the Tangelo Twist sequins from the Paper Pumpkin kit.
Since I like bling, I wasn’t quite done.
I wrapped the Very Vanilla band, to the right of the rose, several times with Gold Baker’s Twine. Then, I added two of the Autumn Wooden Elements. The top of these had been traced with Crystal Effects and then sprinkled with Gold glitter. They were then tied to the Gold Baker’s Twine and a couple of loose tails of Baker’s Twine were added.
I’m really excited about how easy these were and how great they look on my dishes.
