Soo much going on and it’s all fun!! My daughter has finished all of her classes and she’s just waiting for graduation to roll around. Well, I should say she’s finished almost all of her classes. Her art piece that she’s creating for a class at the local college still needs finishing touches. That’s why she’s been a little purple the last couple of days. Tomorrow should see it done and ready for the exhibit. But today, she’s off celebrating a friend’s birthday and graduation. Both happened over the weekend. The get together was a little impromptu so, I needed a quick and easy, cute card.
I decided that Pop of Paradise combined with Balloon Celebration would fit the bill.
I started with a standard 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ Bermuda Bay cardstock base. The Whisper White layer measures 4″ x 5-1/4″.
After masking off the top of the Flamingo’s legs, I inked the rest of the body in Bermuda Bay. Then I pulled off the mask and carefully inked the legs with Basic Black.
The balloon strings from Balloon Celebration were masked part of the way down before inking with Smoky Slate.
The balloons were inked in Pool Party and punched with the Balloon Bouquet punch. The two outside balloons were adhered directly to the Whisper White focal layer, while the center balloon was attached with a Dimensional.
For the “happy birthday”, I first punched the banner with the new Duet Banner punch. Then, I masked “Happy” and inked “Birthday” in Bermuda Bay. After stamping, I reversed the masking and inked and stamped “Happy”
Tip: I punched first because the sentiment is not in a straight line so, I could not bend it to fit. And, I stamped “birthday” first because it needed the most room to fit.
“Congratulations” and “&” were inked in Bermuda Bay and stamped directly onto the Whisper White layer.
Tip: I lined up the bottom edge of the Whisper White layer with a line on the Grid Paper and used another line to insure that my sentiment would be straight.
Finally, I added just a touch of Playful Palette washi and a Basic Rhinestone accent. It’s amazing what that little detail adds!
My daughter gave a Paper Pumpkin kit. She thought her friend would have fun making some of the cards she will need to send as “thank you’s”.
Thanks for stopping by.
