Do you ever have a craving for something? Me too! Usually it’s chocolate, caramel or some sort of crunchy, salty, chipy thing. Well last night, it was broccoli! Really!?! Broccoli? Yep! All I wanted was a heaping serving of broccoli. Mind you, I like broccoli. I’ve been in situations where that was all that was available to me — like the time at the dim sum restaurant in Melbourne — but that’s another story. We were ordering out for Chinese and I couldn’t have been less interested in my usual favorites. I ordered Broccoli in Brown Sauce which came with a side of steamed rice and I was a happy camper!! I’m still shaking my head. But, it did hit the spot! Now let’s take a look at this non-traditional Pop of Paradise Valentine.

Pop of Paradise Valentine
When I ordered Pop of Paradise last year, I thought it was fun. I thought I’d use it a few times. But, it keeps popping back into my head to be used in ways I could not have imagined when I purchased it.
Today is one of those times. I used Pop of Paradise to create a Valentines card.
The details
I started with a Real Red card base. Another piece of Real Red cardstock was cut with a Stitched Shapes oval.
Over that is a piece of Whisper White cut with a Layering Oval. The flamingo from Pop of Paradise was stamped in Real Red ink. But before stamping, I wiped off the bit of red on the beak and colored over the beak and eye with a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker. Don’t worry about wiping perfectly. The Basic Black marker will cover any little bits you miss. After stamping, the Whisper White oval was added with Dimensionals.
Next, the sentiment was stamped in Versamark on Real Red cardstock. Then, it was heat embossed with Gold. Once the heart had cooled a moment, it was cut out with a heart from the Sweet and Sassy Framelits.
Before adding the layer of Sending Love designer paper, I attached one of the Mini Paper Clips threaded with a piece of Pom Pom trim.
Tip: Since the clip adds a little bulk and the trim adds weight, I used Fast Fuse to attach the designer paper layer.
The Gold Sequin Trim was attached using Fine Tip Glue Pen. By pushing it right up to the Mini Paper Clip, it creates a faux look — as if it too is attached to the clip.
Using the Fine Tip Glue Pen, I attached the Gold Glimmer Paper hearts. You can cut these using the Confetti Hearts Border Punch or use the “leftovers” from a die in the Window Box Thinlits.
Don’t forget the inside!
I’ve added a Whisper White panel on which you can express your love and finished it with a narrow strip of the matching Sending Love designer paper.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my Pop of Paradise Valentines card.
