I am having such a blast playing with the various sketch challenges. It’s really freeing in a way. Since the layout is already planned, you can get right down to the way you want to use it.
The Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch was perfect for yesterday afternoon. There was a lot of running back and forth to the school and various activities. This sketch allowed me to be creative in the time I had available. Yippee!
Here’s the sketch I used.
And here’s the card I created based on the sketch.
As you can see, I flipped the sketch and some of the elements. Painted Petals was used to create the focal image.
I love the contrast in colors from the Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz to Basic Black.
The Handpicked Framelits were used for the sentiment. As you can see, I cut a second “pick” in Pool Party and layered. It gives a little accent edge.
The butterfly is punched from Sheer Perfection Vellum, colored with a Pool Party Stampin’ Write Marker and embossed in gold. It’s got kind of a shabby look that’s perfect for the soft quality of the Painted Petals flowers.
The final touch was to edge the focal layer in gold using the Gold Stampin’ Dazzle marker. What a difference that made!

I love your take on the sketch this week turning it in this fashion. Just beautiful. Thanks for joining us this week at the Paper Craft Crew. Carolyn xx
I had fun playing with this one! Thanks Carolyn.
Sara, Thanks for playing along with the Paper Craft Crew! I love how you turned the sketch and used the Handpicked Framelits as a tag – so creative and a brilliant use of this die. Gorgeous colors!
Thanks Pam! I’m always trying to find different ways to use dies.
OK. Very stupid question, but you mentioned how you love playing the challenges because the layout is already done for you. Is there a way that you can print the sketch out so you know the dimensions of each layer or do you just estimate when you look at a layout?
Trisha ~ Not a stupid question at all. Most sketch challenges allow you to change the sketch a little bit: direction, shape, type of embellishment, etc. So yes, you usually have to estimate. Thanks for asking.
Such an elegant take on the sketch Sara! Love your soft colours and the gorgeous butterfly! Thanks for joining us at The Paper Craft Crew this week 🙂
I just had to play with the Sheer Perfection vellum. Glad you liked the way it turned out. Thanks Jan.
