I was up just before 5:00 a.m. even without the alarm this morning! Why? I was so excited to be able to place my first order from the new catalog offerings!! I spent yesterday combing through the new catalog and trying to whittle down my order — I was not terribly successful. There were too many things that absolutely called my name. I’m looking forward to the box that will arrive early next week!
After contacting a couple of team members and catching up with a couple of friends, I spent a little time creating. Yay!
I broke into my new Playful Palette designer paper stack and had a play with some of the patterns.
My card starts with a standard 5 -1/2″ x 8-1/2″ card base in Sweet Sugarplum.
Then, using the the two “circles” in the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, I cut Sweet Sugarplum scribbles for my background. The scribbles were attached with the Fine Tip Glue Pen.
Next, I used the Butterflies Thinlits and cut a sparkly butterfly from the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.
To mimic the swirly feel of the scribbles, I attached Silver Metallic Thread loops to the back of the butterfly using Glue Dots.
And for the bold mid-layer
I mixed and matched patterns from the Playful Palette designer paper stack and the Playful Palette washi.
The larger designer paper banner is 2-1/2″ x 5″ and the smaller designer paper banner is 1-1/2″ x 3-1/2″. Both banners were cut using the Banner Triple punch.
The striped washi was adhered to a piece of Sweet Sugarplum cardstock that measures 5/8″ x 3-1/2″ and then was angled at the bottom. And the dotted washi was adhered to a piece of Whisper White measuring 5/8″ x 3″ that was also angled at the bottom.
Tip: Adhering the translucent washi to a coordinating cardstock allows the colors to pop rather than be absorbed or muted by a darker or contrasting color.
