Pineapple Color Fun!

I think summer has officially begun here. Why today?  It’s the first weekday morning since school began last Fall that I haven’t set an alarm!  I was still up early but, it’s always nice to know you don’t have to be.  My goal for this summer is to create some sort of schedule/pattern of organization that I can live with (ie follow) once summer is over.  Talk to me in October 🙂

Yesterday morning’s Coffee and a Card class was a fun way to have a quick, creative get together.  I’ve already got sign ups for the next one in a couple of weeks.  If you’re in the area, click the calendar in the right side bar and RSVP!  You won’t regret spending a little time chatting, relaxing and creating before you jump into the “meat” of your day.

And, a huge shout out to my friend Janet who coordinated a get together for lunch yesterday so that her granddaughter could give my daughter some insider tips for the college she will attend in the fall.

What about the card?

I used Pineapple again today.

but, decided I wanted to play around with color.

I used Bermuda Bay, Peekaboo Peach and Watermelon Wonder.

The card starts with a standard 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ Bermuda Bay cardstock base that has been scored down the middle.

The Whisper White layer measures 4″ x 5-1/4″.

I lined the bottom edge of the Whisper White layer up with one of the grid lines on the Grid Paper and then applied two rows of Playful Palette washi.  The washi was also lined up with grid lines which helped with both spacing and keeping the washi straight.

Then, I used my Aqua Painter and a little Watermelon Wonder ink that was pressed onto the lid of the ink pad and painted a swishy background.

Next, I inked the bottom half of the Pineapple with Peekaboo Peach and the leaves with Bermuda Bay by tapping carefully with the ink pads.  I like that there’s just a hint of Bermuda ink at the top of the pineapple.

After stamping the pineapple onto Whisper White cardstock, I used a dauber and added some Watermelon Wonder accents.  The pineapple was cut out by hand and adhered to the Whisper White focal layer.

Finally, I added a little bling using sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim.  They were adhered using the Fine Tip Glue Pen.
