As March begins to get warmer, I think about two things a lot! Flowers, flowers and more flowers — I want to see things begin to bloom. And, I think about going to the beach. Yes, it’s not summer. But for years, I went to the beach for a few days in March. While it wasn’t warm enough to swim in the ocean, it was warm enough for shorter sleeves and to feel the sun on your skin. And most important of all, most years were spent with part of my family. But as we’ve moved along it school, it’s no longer practical to take my daughter out of school for even a day or two. Anyway, the beach is what I was thinking about.
I pulled out Picture Perfect for a play.
I started with a layer of Tempting Turquoise cardstock.
Then on the Whisper White layer, I used the Watercolor Wash background stamp inked in Tempting Turquoise. Before stamping, I stamped off to slightly lighten the color. It makes me think of moving water, like the way the tide moves in and out.
Next, I added half of a Tea Lace Doily.
Over the doily is a piece of Perfectly Artistic designer paper. The marbling on this paper also works with the water theme. And by the way, this is a free product during Sale-A-Bration.
The next “layer” is a Silver Metallic Thread bow.
And the top layer is the starfish from Picture Perfect. The starfish is a two step stamp. I inked first with Hello Honey and the second stamp was inked with Delightful Dijon. And of course, there’s a little fussy cutting involved.
Tip: When using a multi-step stamp, work from lightest to darkest ink for the best results.
The starfish was finished with a brush of Gold Wink of Stella. The light shimmer, which you unfortunately can’t see in the picture, is lovely and subtle. And, the gold works as a nice shadow/accent to the design already in the starfish.
The card was finished with a few loose sequins from Silver Sequin Trim.
