I have to say, I’m proud of my kid! Not because of what she has accomplished thus far (yes, I am) but because of who she’s been showing me and the rest of the world. I’m proud of her because she asked if I would bring her some of my handmade cards — not because she’s kissing up to ole mom. But, because she wants to have cards on hand to give to the people around campus that extend her a kindness, make her life easier or just to brighten their day. Oh yeah! She understands the value of a handmade card and a “thank you” or “I’m thinking of you” that is not in electronic form. So of course, I went through my stash of cards — I don’t use them quite as fast as I make them. But, I also wanted to make something new.
I came up with this One Sheet Wonder that I think you’re going to love!
I used the Paisleys and Posies stamp set on an 8-1/2″ x 11 piece of Whisper White cardstock.
I used Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo to create my design. The Melon Mambo was used more as an accent color.
To stamp, I started in the center of my page and worked out to the edges varying shapes and sizes. In the end, I came in with two small images to fill any largish gaps in the design.
Next, I cut six Bermuda Bay bases measuring 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and scored them down the middle to make standard sized cards.
I added a piece of Pop of Pink Washi near the top of each card.
Tip: to line up the washi, use a piece of Grid Paper. Settle your card into the center of the grid so that you have a dark line running down one side and across the top. Then count down the number of lines or spaces to where you want to run the washi. It will be straight every time since you can see the same spacing on both sides of the card.
I was able to create six cards from my One Sheet Wonder.
Cutting Directions: With your cardstock in portrait orientation, cut three strips 2-3/4″ x 11. You’ll have 1/2″ left. Then rotate each strip to landscape orientation and cut at 5-1/2″.
The layers were adhered with Multipurpose Glue.
I finished the cards by adding a Melon Mambo “flower” cut with the Paisley Framelits.
After adhering the flowers, they were accented with a large Basic Rhinestone.
I can’t wait to give them to her!
They’ve already received a thumbs up through the virtual world of texting.
