Oh Joy!!! One of the things that I love about my job is the time I get to spend with people. I’ve met and continue to meet people that I would otherwise not know if it weren’t for Stampin’ Up! And that’s a true joy for me. The last two days I was able to spend time with several of my customer/friends. Several orders had arrived and I always plan extra time for an order pick up or drop off just in case the opportunity is there for a little chat time. I love that!
Wondrous Wreath Oh Joy
Inlaid Embossing Card 1
Which leads me to oh “joy”. I started with an idea for one card and ended up with three. None of them is the card I thought I was making. But that’s okay!
I’ve played with the wreath from Wondrous Wreath and the coordinating Wonderful Wreath framelits several times. But, I’ve neglected the other elements in the Wonderful Wreath framelits pack. “Joy” was begging to be used this morning.
I created this tri-tone card using Lost Lagoon, Soft Sky and the Silver Foil Sheets.
As you can see from this detail shot, the card was assembled like a puzzle — sliding “Joy” into the negative space in the Soft Sky layer. To finish, I added three large Basic Rhinestones to this clean and simple, masculine card.
Inlaid Embossing Card 2
Next, I tried a variation.
Starting with a base of Soft Sky this time, I added a layer from the Moonlight designer paper stack. This piece had been cut with the “Joy” thinlit and had a Soft Sky peek-a-boo. I added the designer paper centers back into the letters.
Taking the leftover Soft Sky “Joy” from the first card, I laid it over and offset the “Joy” showing through the designer paper. This gave it a little more dimension and oomph (official crafting term). To finish, I added a strip of Lost Lagoon Silky Taffeta Ribbon layered with a piece of Silver 1/8″ Ribbon.
Inlaid Embossing Card 3
And one more variation.
This card started with a Basic Gray base followed by a layer of Silver Glimmer Paper. Then, I again used some of the leftovers. The Soft Sky piece at the top is the mate of the Soft Sky piece on the first card. This time though, I embossed it with the Distressed Dots embossing folder. Again, it is assembled like fitting puzzle pieces together.
After fitting “Joy” (from the Moonlight designer series paper stack) into the Soft Sky piece, I traced the top edge with a Basic Gray Stampin’ Write Marker. This made “Joy” pop. As a final detail, I’ve added a Candy Dot from the Subtles pack right by the notch in the Silver Glimmer Paper.
So, that’s it for Joy times 3.
