No, not my creation. It’s the stamp set I was given at last Monday’s Catalog Premiere. I know some people pull their new things out of the box right away and use them as soon as they arrive. But, last week I was in a, “let me play with some of my retiring stamps” mood. This morning I decided it was time to crack open the stamp box and prep my stamps. Though the stamps come die cut and ready to label, I choose to trim mine. I have fewer stamping accidents — I mean creative opportunities happen that way.
I love Crisp Cantaloup with Basic Black and wanted to use those two shades with some of my designer paper. The first pack I spied was Modern Medley.
Since the background in Modern Medley is Very Vanilla, I used that cardstock for my base. I was going for a clean look with pattern and this piece of Modern Medley fit the bill. Adding a layer of Very Vanilla, I stamped the large image in Crisp Cantaloup. Then, I added the Gold embossed distressed chevron image across the two layers. The distressed stripe was inked in Crisp Cantaloup and stamped off first. Finally, I inked the distressed circle with Memento ink and stamped over the embossed chevron image. The last details were the Large Basic Pearl (on the retiring list) and a row of Basic Pearls along the bottom right.
Now when I finished this card, I went back to prepping the rest of the stamps in the set for my use. When I got to “Thank”, it made me think of the Banner punch. That thought turned into this:
I punched a piece of Crisp Cantaloup with the Banner punch and added the word “thank” that had been inked in black. The banner is on a Stampin’ Dimensional. Then, I inked “You” in black and stamped across all of the layers. When you do this, you have little blank spots where the stamp can’t quite make contact. So, I pulled out my Stampin’ Write Basic Black marker and carefully inked the spaces the stamp had missed.
Two looks, one card. Now, that’s an easy change up!
The Retirement Lists I mentioned can be found under the On Sale tab. I will update them again tonight for your viewing tomorrow.
