We’ve begun the annual mum sale at school. Besides the plants being just plain gorgeous, they scream “Fall” to me. So that every time I look at a flower stamp, I’m thinking, “Can this be a Fall flower?” I pulled out Choose Happiness with this thought in mind.
If you haven’t used the 2014-2016 In Colors yet, now is the time! These lush colors are perfect for your Fall creations. Here, I’ve paired Tangelo Twist and Mossy Meadow.
The base cardstock is Mossy Meadow followed by a focal layer of Very Vanilla. I used a small strip of Tangelo Twist cardstock, cut with the Tiny Wave blade, as the only embellishment/accent on this card.
I love stamps whose sole purpose is to create texture. They’re sort of a crafting/artistic shortcut. The background “squares” were stamped with an image from For All Things. This image was easy to line up. To create a little more contrast, I stamped off some of the Mossy Meadow ink before stamping onto the Very Vanilla cardstock.
I masked the stem on the leaves for the second stamping and was amazed (and pleased) that both sets of leaves appear to be on the same stem. When stamping the flower, you’ll want to rotate it so that the heavier part of the design is towards the outside of the color block it will be stamped over. The contrast is better this way rather than being hidden in the overlap of colors and images where the color blocks meet and it helps to create some balance.
An easy card that fits perfectly into the creative time we have as we get into the swing of our busy Fall schedules.
