Tonight is the last dance recital. The last for my daughter and the other seniors. And, the last for the studio owner. She has sold the studio and will retire after tonight’s performance of Coppelia. It is traditional that the graduating Company girls give a joint gift to the studio owner who also happens to be the principal instructor and choreographer. With the studio changing hands and her impending move, they were having trouble deciding what to give her. It couldn’t be something for the studio or her home. That made gift giving hard! Then, my daughter mentioned to me that the studio owner is sentimental and inspiration hit! Why not create an album from this year’s graduating Company girls but including everyone currently at the studio? That’s what they decided to do.
So using the 6″ x 8″ Espresso Project Life Album and packs of 6″x 8″ Variety Project Life Photo Pocket Pages, they set out to create their gift.
They’ve got a great group shot from the final rehearsal at the studio that fills the full page pocket.
It is the first page in the album.
Then, the girls both submitted and collected photos so that pages could be assembled.
This girl wanted this 6″ x 4″ card to to journal on so, we chopped her picture so that it fit in the two smaller pockets on the page.
I love that you have this flexibility and it doesn’t make the photo any less appealing.
And this girl used her full size picture and chose both a decorator card and a journaling card to fill her pockets.
The colors in the Moments Like These card collection, worked perfectly with the range of colors in the costuming for the show.
Yet another example of using this same page style. This girl provided a smaller photo which fit the smaller pocket size. So, she added a 3″ x 4″ decorator card and one of the 6″ x 4″ cards for journaling.
This next photo might be one of my favorites from all of those that were submitted.
I really like that this girl chose a picture where they were doing something rather than just the staged, formal picture. And, I think it might be the only one in the album that includes the instructor.
Again, both a decorator card and a journaling card were used to fill the 3″ x 4″ pockets.
The girls also used the other pocket page styles but, that was too many faces to cover 🙂
At the back of the album,
they added one of the 6″ x 8″ Project Life Envelope Pages.
It was perfect for holding the program from the dance recital!
All of the girls have taken a moment to journal a note to the instructor and they will present the album this evening after the recital.
I think she will like it.
Give this a thought in your life for a special teacher or for yourself.
When you’ve assembled the album, you’ll be asking yourself why you didn’t do one sooner!
