Today, I had some fun playing with the Watercolor Pencils to create a Bold Butterfly card. The finished card has a mixed media feel. To tell the truth, most of the cards we make are a type of mixed media. Let’s take a look!
Mixed Media Bold Butterfly Card
I had so much fun playing with the Watercolor Pencils!!
The Bold Butterfly Framelits were used to cut a butterfly from
Watercolor Paper.
Then, I drew on the butterfly with the Watercolor Pencils.
I just put down a base of bits of color.
Then, I used a damp brush to cause the color to move.
Tip: You’ll want to clean your brush as you move around so that the color doesn’t become muddy.
Blending the colors gives a nice undertone to the finished butterfly.
Bold Butterfly Close Up
Next, I drew in some lines and curves with the Pacific Point Watercolor Pencil.
Then, I took a damp brush one last time and used it to soften the lines.
I gently shaped the butterfly so that it dried with raised wings.
Finally, I brushed the butterfly with Clear Wink of Stella.
Now, it was time to layer the card.
I wrapped a piece of Whisper White cardstock with Affectionately Yours washi
before cutting it with a pair of Layering Squares Framelits.
A Lace Doily and a strip of Silver Sequin Trim were
added before topping with the Bold Butterfly.
Thanks for stopping by today and checking out my
Bold Butterfly card.
