I’m in reading mode again! That doesn’t mean that I don’t usually read. It just means that I’ve gotten to the point in my current book where all I want to do is read. So, I had to make sure that I took care the “to do’s” before I pick up the book this morning. I’ve had my morning call with my brother and created a little something to share with you. And, I was so distracted while preparing for my morning that I think I made the world’s worst coffee!! I put in six cups worth of grounds and then 12 cups of water – 🙁 I’ve been drinking it anyway — because I hate to waste. I ought to be able to drink this pot all day without getting a caffeine high. At least it was hot 🙂 Now let’s check out my Lift Me Up Mini Egg Carton.

Lift Me Up Mini Egg Carton
I’ve been thinking about those Mini Egg Cartons in the Occasions Catalog.
This morning I decided it was time to move from thinking to
actually creating with them!
First, I decided I wanted to change the color of the Mini Egg Carton.
Easy enough — just spritz it!
I used a mixture of Pool Party ink refill and alcohol in my Stampin’ Spritzer.
The color is very soft.
Things learned:
- use a darker color or more ink refill than you think you will need
- the carton is very absorbent
- let is dry before opening and closing (the hinge, while damp, will be soft from the spritzing)
- even when using alcohol, a Heat Tool is useful to speed up drying time.
The hot air balloon was die cut from Silver Glimmer Paper using the Up & Away Thinlits.
Before die cutting, I pulled the backing layer off of the Glimmer Paper. This makes it easier to glue down when the time comes.
Using the Fine Tip Glue Pen, I adhered the Silver Glimmer Paper hot air balloon to a piece of Soft Sky cardstock. Then using my Paper Snips, I cut around the hot air balloon.
For the sentiment, I used a Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Marker and just added ink to the part of the Lift Me Up stamp that I wanted to use.
It’s stamped on a piece of Whisper White cardstock and accented with hand cut banner ends and large Basic Rhinestones.
This piece was adhered to the hot air balloon using the Fine Tip Glue Pen.
I wanted a kind of over the top closer for the Mini Egg Carton.
So I wrapped it with a combination of White Pom Pom Time and 1/8″ Emerald Envy Ribbon that I left long enough to puddle on the tabletop.
Before tying off the ribbon and trim, I tucked in lengths of both Bermuda Bay and Silver Sequin Trim.
Once this was all in place, I used Foam Adhesive Strips to attach the Glimmer Paper hot air balloon. They gave just enough height over the trims.
Tip: When adhering the Foam Strips, be sure to leave a space on the back of the balloon where the trims will be.
Perfect for wedding, graduation, promotion, birthday….
