I spent last night on a Facebook Live event run by Sara Douglas the CEO of Stampin’ Up! She and her mom, Shelli Gardner, were sharing their experience, live, of putting together the Oh Happy Day Kit. The kit is super cute! But even cuter where Sara and Shelli!! Their evident enjoyment of spending time together, their ease of interaction, their joy in doing what they do…it all came through and made you want to be there with them. It was fun interacting through comments with them and with the hundreds of others from around the world who were also participating.
This was such a fun thing to do that I am going to begin offering a couple of Facebook Live classes next month. You’ll get to see the projects here first. When you sign up, you’ll receive a packet so that you can create right along with me! Just like we did last night with Sara and Shelli.
Today I’m back with another installment of my 12 Days of Halloween.
This is day 8 so be sure to look back through my posts if you’ve missed any of the previous projects.
I created this luminary or lantern using Jar of Haunts.
It starts with a box made from Very Vanilla cardstock.
The base of the box measures 8-1/2″ x 10-1/2″
Score along the landscape side at 2-1/2″, 5″, 7-1/2″ and 10″.
Then turn it and score along the portrait side at 2-1/2″ and 6″
I used the banner image from Banners for Christmas. The image was stamped on the top and sides in Crumb Cake ink. It’s perfect for that idea of fabric wrapping.
Then, I took a Stampin’ Sponge and added random Crumb Cake shading. And, I made sure to sponge along all of the edges/crease lines.
Next, I used the medium jar from the Everyday Jar Framelits and cut jar shaped holes in three of the sides. To have them at the same height on all three sides I put two tic marks on each panel. One tic mark was 3/4″ down from the top score line (landscape orientation) and the other was 5/8″ up from the bottom score line.
Then, I cut three pieces of Window Sheet to 2-1/4″ x 3-1/4″.
These pieces were rubbed generously with the Embossing Buddy to help get rid of static.
I stamped the mummy image from Jar of Haunts in Versamark onto each piece of Window Sheet. The images were then sprinkled with Copper Embossing powder.
Tip: Use a small paint brush to brush away any stray bits of embossing powder — it likes to cling to the Window Sheet.
Warm up your Heat Tool before beginning to heat the image — be sure to keep the tool moving to prevent warping, melting or burning.
These pieces were adhered with a little Fast Fuse at the top and bottom of the jar cut outs in the box panels.
Assemble the box using Fast Fuse.
Tip: I cut the back tab from the bottom. Scored it at 1″ from one end. Tapered it on either side of the 1″ section and then adhered this tab to the front tab. It creates a tuck in piece so that you can open and close the bottom of the box to insert and remove your light.
Here’s what it looks like lit up. Pretty cool, huh!?
These would be cute on a Halloween party table or along your walk to guide trick or treaters.
And if you don’t need a luminary, they make a perfect treat box!
