I realized as I was completing today’s creation that, I am a Bling-aholic. Sometimes the Bling is part of the plan from the beginning and other times it’s what I reach for to “fix” a creation. While I do use other embellishments, I realized today that most of the time it’s some sort of Bling. So, I decided that either makes me a Bling-aholic or a 5 year old girl. And if you’ve ever gone shopping with a 5 year old girl, you know what I’m talking about — anything that sparkles is automatically better.
To check my theory, I did a quick survey of the cards I currently have displayed on my buffet. Yep, bling on this one, bling on that, etc. Bling-aholic! But, I won’t be joining a twelve step program. Instead, let me share my addiction.
I’m a Bling-aholic
Ray of Sunshine Card
I started by using the feathered stripe from High Five and embossing it in Clear. Then taking my Aqua Painter and Crisp Cantaloupe ink, I added color by pooling and then spreading the ink. I wanted it to have a loose watercolor feel. When I was through painting, I took the wet brush and tapped it to send small droplets across the project. You’ll want to be careful to not over saturate your cardstock or it will buckle. The new Fast Fuse adhesive is great for adhering a piece that is no longer quite flat (ask me how I know).
After stamping the face from Ray of Sunshine, the Circles Collection framelits were used to cut out the image and the surrounding Calypso Coral frame. The banners and small triangle are also from Ray of Sunshine. And then comes the bling. I added a trail of Gold Sequin Trim flowing out from the banners. Plus, the Gold embossed star clusters across the background layer. Then finally, a few loose Gold sequins were strewn across the card.
There are so many great elements, not to mention the sentiments, in these two stamp sets. I foresee them getting a lot of play time.
