Today was the first day of school and as usual for us, the schedule was a bit messed up. Full points to my daughter however who is a superb advocate for herself! She has learned well over the years and today managed to clear up her scheduling problems in record time. I’m quite proud of both her willingness and ability to take care of her issues. One more thing to add to her life’s toolbox. Now, if she could just figure out how to squeeze a couple more hours into the day!
I used the Howl-O-Ween Treat set today. But, I’m not quite ready to use it for Halloween. Instead, I played a bit and made it a back to school, teacher appreciation or even a Valentine gift. (Whoa now! That’s a bit early.)
I played with lots of new things with this creation. They’ll all be available to you beginning tomorrow.
I started with a Square Pillow Box (139657) in Basic Black and added one of the new Spider Web Doilies (139622). But, I used the back or white side.
Next, I added a layer of Schoolhouse designer paper. I cut the designer paper and then ran it through the pillow box thinlit to mark the edges. I wanted the designer paper layer to have the same curved shape as the box and the mark let me know where to trim it.
At this point, I tied a couple of loops of White Bakers Twine around the box.
For my tag, I used the Back to Basics Alphabet on a Decorative Label punch in Whisper White. Sooo easy to space these photopolymer letters!
Finally, I stamped the owl from Howl-O-Ween Treat and cut him out with the coordinating Boo to You framelits (139663). All of the black ink is the new Basic Black archival (140931) that will be available tomorrow. What a nice crisp black.
And that’s my back to school, teacher appreciation, Valentine box using Howl-o-ween Treat.
