It’s another busy day here. Finishing up those tags I mentioned yesterday. Running my daughter to a mid-school day performance. And so glad she had the opportunity! She returned to the car sooo excited about the response to her music. She played for a group of young elementary school children today. What was supposed to be 30 minutes turned into almost an hour — all good! So before I have to run back to school to pick her up, I thought I’d share the card I made for the teacher who allowed my daughter the opportunity.
I used Helping Me Grow and a new set called Thoughtful Banners
This super easy card starts with a Thick Whisper White card base measuring 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.
After dusting the card front with my Embossing Buddy, I stamped the flowers from Helping Me Grow in Versamark. They were then heat embossed with Silver.
Next, I took my Aqua Painter and Sweet Sugarplum ink pad. First, I squeezed the ink pad lid against the ink pad to transfer some ink to the lid. Then using my wet Aqua Painter, I dribbled some water into the lid and swirled some ink into it. The loose ink was brushed lightly over and between the flowers. After the first layer of ink dried, I brushed in more in places to get some variation in tone.
Tip: It’s okay to leave white space when watercoloring.
Using the Playful Palette washi, I covered a 5/8″ x 4-1/4″ piece of Sweet Sugarplum cardstock. This piece was added to the card with Dimensionals.
Then, using the banner image, from Thoughtful Banners, inked in Sweet Sugarplum I stamped on Whisper White and punched with the coordinating Duet Banner punch. The “thank you” is from the same stamp set. It was also inked with Sweet Sugarplum but was stamped on a separate piece of Whisper White. I also punched it before trimming it down. The “thank you” piece was added to the banner piece with a Dimensional that I cut in half to fit.
I wound Silver Metallic thread around my index and middle fingers five times to give it a little more oomph. The thread circle was then added to the back of the banner using Glue Dots and then the banner piece was attached to the washied strip using Dimensionals.
Finally,
I added a strip of the same Playful Palette washi to the back flap of my envelope.
This was the perfect, quick, thank you card for me to make today.
