I had a lovely, lazy Mother’s Day yesterday! We did absolutely nothing and that was completely wonderful. My daughter and I just hung out together. I was so pleased to see the sun appear early in the afternoon. That was it’s first appearance in a week. We’ve enjoyed another sunshiny day today! In between catching up with my team of ProCraftinators, I made some time for creating.
I settled on creating with Helping Me Grow.
But, I decided to whack it into pieces before getting started.
Whaaat?…Why?
I decided I wanted to work with the different flowers separate from their stems.
So, I just cut them apart with my Paper Snips. But, I did not trim them close.
That way, they’ll be easy to use with the stems because you can still see how they should fit together.
I started with a Mint Macaron cardstock base. Before adding a layer of Everyday Chic designer paper ( 5-1/4″ x 3″), I laid down a strip of Tear and Tape on the designer paper and covered it with Gold Metallic Bakers Twine.
Next, I have a 2-1/2″ x 5″ piece of Mint Macaron.
I stamped the row of dots image in Mint Macaron. Then, I added the corner image inked in black.
Moving along, I stamped a cluster of the larger flower in Versamark and heat embossed in gold.
To create the flower cluster, I masked off flowers as I moved from one to another so that they appear to overlap.
After embossing, I took a dauber and Mint Macaron and swirled in a little color to the center and right where the petals connect to the center.
The shiny centers were achieved by using Fine Tip Glue — it dries shiny!
Tip: I spritzed the glue very lightly with alcohol which caused the bubbles in the glue to disappear. To know where your spritzer will spray lightly, first spray on nothing to see how far out you will need to hold the cardstock for it to just be in the fine mist from the spritzer. Closer is generally a heavier concentration and further out is generally a finer mist.
Finally, I added a brushing of Wink of Stella ( clear ) over all of the petals to give them a little shimmer.
