Sometimes you need a little decor change. Combining Banner Blast and Hearts a Flutter, I came up with a quickie decor pick me up.
Valentine’s Day was always a “thing” as I grew up. Not instead of being nice, loving, thankful… every other day. But, something extra, kind of like your birthday. I think my dad was a hopeless romantic. I can’t remember him ever forgetting personal occasions. He took great joy in giving. I think he and the little kids at school have it right – everyone deserves to be remembered on Valentine’s Day. But we can’t all sit back and wait for someone else to do the remembering, we need to be doing that also. It’s not about the over the top thing or having a date. A quick note, a small candy, any act of kindness would be in the spirit. With that in mind, I created a quick little banner.
I started by re-purposing a pot that had been used for a thankful tree. Also on hand were a couple of skewers left from grilling season. Banner Blast from the Sale-A-Bration brochure came in handy with all of its banner designs. I stamped the “love”, chevron, and diagonal stripe banners in Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush and Calypso Coral and then punched the banner with the Banner punch (also from the Sale-A-Bration brochure). Next, I stamped the heart from Banner Blast several times in Coastal Cabana and Strawberry Slush and cut them out. From “Hearts a Flutter”, I stamped the diagonal banner and heart filled with hearts images and cut them with the Hearts a Flutter framelits. All of the pieces were “hung” using Glue Dots on Pool Party Twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessories pack (SAB brochure).
This was a quick, easy decor piece that works in my repurposed pot but could also be used: as a cake topper; strung across a picture frame; laid across a pillow; as part of a scrapbook page; across a mirror or cabinet door, etc. This little banner makes it so easy to let someone or several someones know that you think they are special any time of year.
Leave me a comment and tell me know how you let people know they are special.
