It’s the first day of Spring!!! I love Spring. It makes me happy. Not only the warmer weather but everything that blooms. When I first moved into my house, there was nothing. No grass and no landscaping. I spent the next few years planting and replanting with an eye towards having something blooming in my yard from the very beginning of the season all the way through until frost. And while I have let that go a bit, I still look forward to the first crocus. Right now, I’ve got two very lame looking crocus up and signs that more are on the way now that there is no snow covering them. My daughter and I watch the bed right by the front door for signs of impending blooms from about mid-February on; but not this year as there was too much snow on the ground. We make a point of announcing to the other, “Did you see the first crocus are up.” It’s Spring! It’s Spring!
Of course with Spring comes Easter. And with Easter comes a hare…umm bunny. So, I felt like I needed to create one; a bunny that is. I don’t currently own a bunny stamp so, I played with paper piecing. The question became, “Can a banner become a bunny?”
The answer: maybe.
So here’s what went on with this card. I used a Perfect Plum base and stamped the dots from Happy Watercolor all over this layer using Versamark. I just wanted a little texture without adding more…. The bunny was created using the largest Banner Framelit for the head and the middle Oval Framelit for the body. Using the Large Oval punch and Blushing Bride, I lined the inside of his ears. The 3/4″ Circle punch was used for his eyes, cheeks and tail. To finish his eyes, the Owl Builder punch was used to punch Basic Gray and Blushing Bride followed by some highlights created with the White Gel Pen. The Small Heart punch was used for his nose along with a few dots from the Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write marker. Fringe Scissors were used to make eyelashes (Whisper White), whiskers (Smokey Slate) and grass (Old Olive). I finished by adding several Daffodil Delight flowers using the Petite Petals punch and Candy Dots for centers.
Let me know what you think of my banner bunny and what says “Spring” to you.
