We’re having a relaxing day at home today. Part of the two days of Spring Break. We’ll be watching several episodes of one of our favorite (new to us) shows — Face Off. We find the way materials are used and overall creativity is very interesting.
Today’s creation converts a card front, that I started some time ago, into a finished card. The inspiration to complete it came as I drove into the neighborhood yesterday and saw that one of the cherry or plum trees was already dropping it’s blossoms. There was a halo of pink “snow” under the tree.
I used Happy Home
to create my scene. The image was inked in Chocolate Chip.
Then, I came in with a sponge dauber and added Blushing Bride ink to the crown of the tree to create a soft, hazy look …as when a tree is in full blossom.
Over the scene is a Soft Sky window frame cut with the Hearth and Home Framelits.
This piece was layered over a piece of Soft Sky that was embossed with the Softly Falling folder. The bottom half of this layer is a piece of Birthday Bouquet designer paper. All of the dots in the embossing folder and designer paper compliment each other.
The bottom of the card is accented with a strip of Blushing Bride that has been layered with a piece of Silver Foil paper and wrapped with Silver Metallic Bakers Twine.
To finish the scene,
I dotted my Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write marker around the base of the tree. Then, I squeezed out a little Versamark ink refill and painted it over the Blushing Bride dots. They were then heat embossed in Clear.
Finally, I took an Aqua Painter and painted on some Pear Pizzazz for the bright Spring grass. Since I had embossed the Blushing Bride dots, I didn’t have to worry about where I painted as that created an emboss resist — meaning the Pear Pizzazz would not cover them.
That’s it for my simple Spring “thinking of you” card.
