“We’re going to the beach, we’re going to have lots of fun….” Those are the lyrics that have been popping up in conversations at my house the last few days, as we drove to meet family and finally on our trip to the beach. I think they come from a CD we bought years ago at the Salamanca Market in Hobart, Tasmania. We love markets when we travel. It’s fun to see what people in other places create. And the one in Hobart is a favorite of ours. The CD is called Whale Song and came with a beautiful picture book.
But I digress. What I’d really like to do this morning is share one of my creations before everyone gets up and moving. I’ll do that before I get distracted by the waves outside my window.
After playing with Dotty Angles for the Creation Station creative tour, I wanted to play again. There’s a base of Night of Navy followed by a mat layer from Flowerpot designer series paper. For the focal layer, I massed several stampings of the confetti dots from Dotty Angles. Over those I added a Garden Green grass layer created with Fringe Scissors. The butterfly is a piece of Crushed Curry inked with Night of Navy. The image is from Papillon Potourri.
When inking the Dotty Angles images, I used three shades: Tangelo Twist, Calypso Coral, and Crisp Cantaloup. They’re just enough different to give a little depth to the field of flowers.
Also, you’ll want to take your snips and randomly “trim” the grass and then gently bend some of the pieces. This will give your border a little more interesting look.
That’s it for today. Time for a cup of coffee and then out to enjoy the sun and salt water.
