I had a lovely breakfast with a friend this morning. And when we arrived back at my house, it reminded me of high school. I had a good friend Cindy who would often take me home and we would spend hours (literally) sitting in the car chatting before I got out and went inside. Well, today was much like that. After arriving home, we spent almost three hours sitting in my driveway talking (longer than we had been at breakfast) before I got out to go inside. In both cases, it wasn’t a lack of hospitality. We were just comfortable sitting and chatting where we were. It was almost like having my friend Cindy here. I’ll have to let her know that I thought of her today.
This afternoon is what I think is the last of the graduation parties. And again, I needed a card for my daughter to give. I decided to try my hand at something that is very current — a Pokemon Go character.
I used the Fox Builder punch to create Pikachu.
My card starts with a Thick Whisper White base measuring 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and scored down the middle.
For a play on “Pikachu”, I used the Labeler Alphabet to spell out “Lookachu Grad”. The letters were inked in Pacific Point.
Tip: to easily line up the letters use a piece of Grid Paper. Lay the letters out along one line and then pick them up with an Acrylic Block. Both the horizontal and vertical lines on the Grid Paper help to keep everything straight.
Next, I used the largest plain Layering Circle to cut both Whisper White and Real Red circles. I cut the Real Red circle in half and adhered it to the Whisper White circle before adding a 3/4″ wide Basic Black band to the center of the pokeball. The ball was added using Dimensionals.
Then, I punched the head, body, tail, and two sets of ears from Crushed Curry cardstock using the Fox Builder. I cut apart both sets of long ears and added one set to the body to resemble arms. The tail was turned upside down and cut to look like a lightning bolt.
I added the second pair of Crushed Curry ears over the short ones on the head. Then, I punched out a pair of Basic Black ears and trimmed a triangular tip off the top of each ear and added them to the top of the Crushed Curry ears.
The Basic Black nose is also a punch from the Fox Builder.
The the Basic Black eyes were punched with the medium size circle on the Owl Builder and the smallest circle on the same punch was used for the Whisper White pupils.
The Real Red cheeks are the middle size circle on the Owl Builder.
And the mouth was created by punching a Basic Black heart with the Owl Builder and then sliding the cardstock down just enough to punch just the curved edge that was left on the cardstock after punching the heart.
After adding all of my pieces to the head, I trimmed off part of each red cheek and around the ears to give a smooth line.
To finish, my Fox Builder Pikachu was added to the pokeball using Dimensionals.
