Last week was filled with orchestra uniform fittings and shopping for college. My living room appears to be ground zero of a shopping disaster! Every time I walk through, I just shake my head — no need to be stressed about it as it will only last for a couple of weeks. However, I’m not sure exactly how my daughter will be able to give a cello lesson in there tomorrow. I guess we’ll figure that out in the morning 🙂
Today, I have a sympathy card. Unfortunately, I needed to make one for a friend who recently lost her father.
I started with a Smoky Slate cardstock base measuring 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ that has been scored down the center.
Next, I added a 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ piece from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack. This piece is from the Smoky Slate selection in the stack.
The Whisper White cardstock layer measures 3-3/4″ x 5″.
The focal layer is Whisper White and has been stamped with the Watercolor Wash background stamp. The stamp was inked in Smoky Slate and stamped off before stamping the Whisper White layer. This way the background image is a step or two lighter than the die cuts.
I cut two of the long floral flourishes from Flourish Thinlits in Smoky Slate. One of the flourishes was left whole and attached beginning at the upper left corner. The second flourish was cut in two pieces (one leaf and part of the “stem” were removed altogether). This pieces were fit in at the upper right and lower left. I used the Fine Tip Glue Pen and dotted it around on different parts of the flourish, deciding to leave some of the leaves without any glue at all. This adds just a touch of dimension to the card front.
My final touch was adding a liner to the envelope using the same designer series paper that was used for the first layer of the card. Here’s a template that you can download and print. It’s perfect for the Medium Envelopes.
