I love the turning leaves and slightly cooler days. In fact more than the calendar, there are a couple of trees that I watch for signs that Fall is imminent. One is always the first to turn and the other is the first to loose it’s leaves. Then, there’s the beautiful tree down the street. I miss walking my daughter to the bus stop as it’s leaves are a show stopper. While I can still see them by walking that way, I’m less likely to notice the whole color progression since I don’t walk there daily.
Anyway, as is often the case in Fall I think of those leaves I sealed in wax paper when I was a child. My creative offering today makes me think of those earlier creations.
I pulled out a neglected tool for this one. I hadn’t played with my Autumn Accents die in a while. And, I found I was glad I didn’t have a coordinating stamp set. It made me allowed me to be somewhat more creative.
For my leaves and acorn, I used Vellum Cardstock and Blendabilities (check below for colors). I really like the way the color layers on the Vellum. I even used the Color Lifter to create some additional texture by pushing color out of some areas.
Next, I ran all of the leaves through the Woodgrain embossing folder.
To the acorn I added a line of Crystal Effects and then sprinkled on some Gold Stampin’ Glitter. You’ll also notice a strip of Color Me Autumn washi. The background paper is from the Color Me Autumn designer series paper. Over it I used the small spatter image from Gorgeous Grunge inked with Gold.
I just love the texture of these leaves. They’re making me want to create a mixed media something for Fall – maybe this weekend.
