We’re starting into competition season for the band this weekend and there are still a couple of things to be made. Today it was designing capes and tomorrow it will be preparing gauntlets. I can’t wait to see all of the pieces together! The competition show is a bit different than the show the kids put on for halftime on Friday nights. If you have been or have some one who is in the band, you understand the excitement.
Today’s card creation uses Dove of Peace and is another clean and simple card.
I’ve been playing with clean and simple a lot lately. There’s a skill and beauty in creating this type of card and I’m working on that skill.
This card starts with a Smoky Slate cardstock base followed by a layer of Whisper White.
The Dove of Peace stamp was masked before inking with Basic Gray archival ink since I wanted to change up the sentiment.
Tip: be careful when inking your masked stamp so that you don’t saturate the mask. I found that with my juicy ink pad this was possible. Then you end up with a shadow of the sentiment you are trying to mask out.
Using the Banner Triple punch I cut Smoky Slate and Whisper White banners for layering.
The sentiment is from Embellished Ornaments. It was also masked as the whole sentiment reads, “Thinking of You at Christmas”.
Under the banner is a piece of Tea Lace Doily as the sole embellishment.
The Dove of Peace is beautiful and I was thrilled to come up with a non-Christmas way to keep using it.
