Hi! Welcome to my blog. I’m Sara Levin aka the artful inker. One of the things I’d like to make more of this year is home decor items. I make lots of cards and small 3D items and usually four or so scrapbook pages each month. But, I seldom create decor. So starting with my OnStage roommate gift, my plan is to make at least one “something” a month. Today I’m sharing the Crafting Forever home decor piece I made for my roommate.
Crafting Forever Home Decor
When I make a home decor gift, I usually end up thinking that
my over thinking it keeps me from making more.
For this piece, I started with a wide frame that is canted in — not quite a shadowbox.
After cutting a piece of Thick Whisper White to size, I scribbled on
some watercolor splotches using my Aqua Painter.
Next, I stamped a couple of the paint buckets onto Smoky Slate.
For the brushes, I stamped a couple of sets on Crumb Cake and one on Whisper White.
And yes, there was fussy cutting — aka cutting by hand.
After cutting the tops off of some of the brushes, I colored in those on Whisper White
and attached them to the Crumb Cake handles.
Then, I removed the Crumb Cake pencil and craft knife and replaced them with
their Whisper White versions that had been colored and selectively embossed.
To get some good texture on the paint bucket, I used both sheer embossing and molten embossing.
Using my bone folder, I created a curve in the paint bucket.
Dimension was added by adding lots of dimensionals!
Then to fill some of the blank space, I splattered on some Bermuda Bay.
I finished the piece with a sentiment from Crafting Forever.
It was perfect for my roommate who is also a team member.
My team are the ProCraftinators — I love that Stampin’ Up! made us a stamp set 😉
