I’m dashing around today. It’s time to cook for my congregation and run a few errands for more cooking. Tomorrow is International Night at the high school, it was postponed earlier due to the weather. Since my daughter takes two languages, we need to send in food from two countries. Today, I’ll shop and tomorrow I’ll cook.
Since time was short this morning, I decided to use a challenge to help me get moving faster. What I ended up doing instead was combining PPA247 – a color challenge and PCCCS139 – a sketch challenge.
Using Celebrate Today,
I inked in the challenge colors of Perfect Plum, Elegant Eggplant and Blackberry Bliss.
–
I used the balloons as both my images and the required, layered sentiment for the sketch.
Blackberry Bliss ink and a dauber were used to create the shading on the top balloon. It’s great that you can stamp and then daub on the same color ink and still be able to see the stamped image.
The Blackberry Bliss Stitched Satin ribbon was wrapped around both the bottom Moonlight designer paper layer and the focal layer separately. I used Fast Fuse to attach the ribbon — my favorite adhesive for this.
Both the required scattered embellishments and the row of embellishments were punched from Gold Glimmer paper. I decided that since I was using so little of this that it counted more as a neutral and didn’t conflict with the color challenge.
Don’t forget:
Tomorrow is the last day to order this month’s kit.
And…
through tomorrow. Shop now!

Sara, I love the tiny gold nuggets you sprinked on the rich purples. These colors and the ballons remind me that Summer is just around the corner. Your work is beautiful. Hope to continue seeing your work at Pals Paper Arts. Thank you for joining us this week.
Oh Maggie, I like your interpretation that Summer is right around the corner! I’ll be ready when it gets here.
Great work, Sara! I love all the little details – from the way you used the DSP to the little gold tidbits. Fantastic! Thanks for playing with PPA this week!
Thanks Nicole! This color combo challenge was a stretch for me. It’s good to get out of my box.
This is gorgeous Sara! I love how you’ve incorporated the balloons as your sketch elements and the touches of gold amongst the beautiful colour combo. Thanks for joining us at The Paper Craft Crew this week 🙂
Thanks for the fun sketch! I enjoyed playing along.
What a wonderful card, Sara! You used the challenge colors perfectly. I LOVE the shading on the balloon! WOW! Thanks for sharing at Pals Paper Arts!
Glad you liked that balloon — the shading turned out even better than I had hoped. I’ll be using that technique again. Thanks Ann.
Hi Sara, I immediately recognized the color challenge from PPA this week too with all those purple colors, but this makes a great sketch card for our TSOT challenge too. I love the big balloons set! Crystal
I’ll have to go check and see if you played along with the color challenge as well. I too love the big balloons and am always looking for more/new ways to use them.
What a great layout, Sara! This card incorporates the colors wonderfully. Thanks for playing along with this week’s PPA color challenge.
Thanks Brian! It was fun to play with a color combo that was a little outside my usual zone.
