I was in Barnes and Noble a few weeks back just leafing through some magazines when I came across a picture that has stuck with me. There is someone (I can’t remember who) that is creating cactus/succulent inspired pillows. The picture in the magazine (again, I have no idea which one) was really cool. And my thought was, “I want to try to make something in paper like that.” Well, it has taken several weeks for that thought to pop back up to the top. But, I was so glad that it did yesterday. Cactus or Succulent? You decide!
Cactus or Succulent
Normally what I show on any given day is made on that same day. But, today I’m picking up my daughter who has been visiting relatives for the last week. I wanted to be free to spend the day with her and catch up. I think this worked out as a win for everybody.
This is my version of the cactus/succulent pillow that was in the magazine. I used Bermuda Bay cardstock. I swear this has become a new favorite.
I’ve used the Floral Frames framelits and Spiral Flower die to cut my pieces for this succulent. After a bit of scoring and snipping, it was ready for some hot glue.
The Bone Folder is oh so handy for gently shaping leaves/petals.
After everything was glued and shaped, I took my Whisper White Craft inkpad and swiped it across the tops of all the edges. That left my paper succulent with just the right blue/gray tint.
If you’re unfamiliar with Succulents, just Google them. You’ll find they are quite popular right now as a decor item.
Make your own – they need even less water than the real deal.
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your Saturday and be sure to…
