My May Paper Pumpkin arrived yesterday! And, you know I immediately shot a video to show you what comes inside. With the craziness that is May continuing, I had time to upload it but not to create a post and share it with you. Bonus for you! Because not only do I have the reveal video for you today, I also have a quick and easy alternate project using supplies from the May kit.
Cute right? And full of fun things to celebrate a birthday or other occasion.
As I was thinking about creating with my Paper Pumpkin kit this morning, I thought about what else someone might want when celebrating a birthday.
A scrapbook page of course!
I decided to go with a Project Life style page.
Taking the number 2 style divided Project Life page, I created pocket cards from one of the cards in this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit.
The top pocket card uses the front of a Paper Pumpkin card that has been slightly trimmed and adhered to a Whisper White cardstock base. The sentiment was inked with Island Indigo and stamped on Whisper White cardstock that had been cut with one of the Labels Framelits.
The journaling card on the lower left uses one of the printed die cut strips adhered to a Whisper White base.
And the card in the lower right…
use the back of a Paper Pumpkin card that’s been trimmed and adhered to a Whisper White base. Using the stamp set that came in this month’s kit, I stamped “celebrate” in Island Indigo along the edge.
The balloons are from the same stamp set. They’ve been inked with Island Indigo and stamped off several times. The design on the two outside balloons was created by taking the end of a paintbrush and drawing it across the inked stamp, leaving a blank space. The design on the center balloon was achieved by first stamping the image on Whisper White and then inking the edge of the balloon and stamping just the edge to add each stripe.
The balloon strings are from the Two Tone trim in the kit. I pulled the trim apart to give three different looks for the strings.
Before I finished typing this I had another idea and had to make it right away so that I could share.
I had this thin strip of the card front left and spotted the balloon stamp and had an “aha” moment. I inked the balloons in Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Island Indigo and Bermuda Bay to match the stripes in the card strip. The strings were inked in Memento Tuxedo Black and “celebrate” was inked in Island Indigo.
Adding a few diemensionals to the center panel, finished this clean and simple card.
