Welcome to this month’s Creation Station blog hop!
It’s a Birthday Bonanza!!
We’ve got lots of ideas to share this month to help you create for upcoming birthday celebrations.
I’ve been dying to play with Beetles and Bugs
and today’s theme seemed like just the excuse to ink it up.
It’s too bad this set wasn’t around as my daughter was growing up — she would have loved it!
Thanks to one of her teachers, we spent a lot of time on nature journals. Among other things, we loved finding insects and trying to identify them. In fact, we still collect things or pictures of them on our walks and bring them back to identify.
Anyway…
I’ve created a whole ensemble for a fun buggy birthday!!
I created the party invitation by collage stamping the bugs from Beetles and Bugs.
It is amazingly easy to add the layers of color to the stamped bugs!
“You Are Invited” is from Marquee Messages.
It was stamped and then heat embossed on Vellum then cut with Layering Circles..
The frame for the Vellum was cut with a Stitched Shapes Framelit.
For just a bit of contrast, I wanted a Bermuda Bay embellishment on my banner.
I punched a bit of Bermuda Bay and adhered it. Then, I piped on a bubble of Fine Tip Glue and set it aside to dry. It’s perfect!
Once the invites go out, it’s time to start thinking about the party.
I like clear plates because I can always make them match the theme.
For this party, I cut a round piece the same size as the diameter of the flat part of the plate.
Then, I stamped it collage fashion just like the invitation.
It’s bright, playful and fun!!!
Continuing with the table, I created some straw toppers.
Once they were stamped, I used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to go over the bugs’ shells so that they have nice sheen.
The backing piece was cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.
Then the two pieces were put together around the straw using the Adhesive Foam Strips.
A double stack of the strips were perfect for creating a channel my straws fit through.
Food needs decoration too!
So, I made these easy cupcake toppers.
Tip: To attach the toothpicks, just insert one end into the bottom Dimensional holding the topper layers together.
Every party needs a favor.
This cute one is simple to make using the Bakers Box Thinlits.
I carried the same design element over to the favors and added a belly band to give it a little pop.
The Mini Paper Clip is perfect for closing the favor so that it can be opened without destroying the box.
And a knot of Burlap Ribbon is just enough to give it a finished look.
Inside…
along with some other goodies could be this cute beetle keychain.
Around here, the kids like things that dangle that they can attach to their backpacks.
Now I really have to stop!
So many ideas for this set but I’ll have to save some for another day.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my Beetles and Bugs party ensemble.
