Whew! What a busy weekend!! Don’t get me wrong, I loved every minute of it. Friday night was the football game with the band — this is always fun. But, combine it with a surprise win and a visit from a friend I didn’t expect to see and it was an even better evening. Saturday was another day spent with the band. They had a competition about 2 hours away and I went along to help chaperone and move equipment. The buses were a mile and a half from the stadium. We’re now calling it the “get fit with the band” exercise program :). And finally on Sunday after a little creative time in the morning, I walked with the band for the local Halloween parade.
Jumping on the creativity wagon this morning, I decided to combine Acorny Thank You with this week’s TGIFC26 challenge. I also decided to take a little different direction and created a 3D item rather than a card.
Here’s my Thankful Berry Basket:
My basket is made from Blackberry Bliss cardstock and trimmed with Happy Haunting washi tape.
I used the Berry Basket die to cut the basket. And, the lid was created using the directions in this video.
To the top of the lid on the Berry Basket, I added a gold Metallic Doily followed by a gold Basic Metal Button.
On top of that is an acorn “knob” or finial.
After stamping the bottom of the acorn from Acorny Thank You on Crumb Cake and laying down some Happy Haunting washi, I punched three acorns and their tops using the Acorn Builder punch.
Here’s a quick video tip for making the stamping and punching of the acorns easier:
The acorns were gently scored and folded in the middle (vertically) and adhered to each other to make a 3D acorn topper.
Inserted into the stem of the acorn topper is a banner saying “thankful”. The “thankful” is also from Acorny Thank You and fits perfectly into the Bitty Banner framelits. The banner was stamped on Very Vanilla and is backed with a piece of Blackberry Bliss so that it looks finished front and back.
Stop back tomorrow when I’ll share the cards that I made to fill the basket.
