Are you excited, chomping at the bit? I know I get that way with every new catalog release. Thank goodness that as a demonstrator I get to pre order. If you’d like that perk and others too, then Join My Team.
You’re Lovely was the first of the Sale-A-Bration stamp sets that I chose. In fact, I used it for one of my group swaps for Leadership earlier this month. For those of you who like to color, this set has possibilities. And, there are plenty of elements to use creatively. I can hear you, “Let’s see today’s sample.”
I’ve used a Pistachio Pudding base for my card. A piece of this funky, frilly floral from Sweet Sorbet is next. At the top of the Sweet Sorbet layer, you’ll notice a Summer Starfruit scallop peaking out. I used the Scallop Edge Border punch to create this piece and then layered it over a thin strip of Whisper White that just shows over the top of the scallops. That strip of Whisper White made all the difference. The Summer Starfruit scallop pops and blends better with the whole. In the lower right are three Very Vintage Designer buttons. I’ve colored them with alcohol markers. Let me tell you, I can’t wait until Stampin’ Up! releases their new Blendabilities Markers as it will take the guess work out of matching Stampin’ Up! colors (but that’s for another post). The buttons are adhered with Glue Dots which disappear behind these clear buttons.
Now for the focal piece. I stamped the image and then heat embossed it with Black Embossing powder since I wanted to color with a water based product. Next, I used my 1 3/4″ Circle punch and punched out the middle of the central image. The bracket shaped pieces on either side were trimmed out by hand. Using a Blender Pen with a Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Write Marker, I colored the flowers and bracket images. Then, I used a Pistachio Pudding Stampin’ Write Marker with my Blender Pen and colored in the leaves on the central image. Using the Blender Pen with the markers give a more subtle color than if you had colored directly on the card stock with them. The center circle was placed using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally, I added a thin stripe of multipurpose glue to each bracket piece and carefully slid them under each side of the circular image. It’s hard to tell in the picture, but the circle floats above the brackets.
So, that’s it for today’s sneak peek. Only 2 more days until you can choose your free Sale-A-Bration items with a qualifying purchase. In the meantime, sign up for my newsletter.
