Sunburst Sayings and Playful Palette

Yesterday my daughter had another graduation party to go to.  So, I needed to make a something to carry the gift card that she planned to give.  I quickly decided on the designer paper and a die that I wanted to use.  But the rest of the card proved to be a bit trickier.  This was one of the do a little bit, walk away and work on something else then come back and figure out the next element kind of cards.  In the end, I came up with something that is kind of fun and funky.  I think it totally matches the personality of the recipient.

I started with a 5-1/2″ x 11″ piece of Peekaboo Peach cardstock that has been scored down the middle.

Next, I added a circle of Gold Glimmer Paper that had been cut with the largest plain Layering Circle.

And over that is a piece of designer paper from the Playful Palette stack that has been cut with the Sunburst Thinlits.  The designer paper was really the starting point for this card.  I really liked the circular motion of the pattern and wanted to work that in.  And, the design worked perfectly with the Sunburst Thinlits.  The die cut piece was adhered using Dimensionals.

I decided that I wanted my sentiment on a piece of Vellum. ( I didn’t want to hide the designer paper.)  I inked “Shine” first in Versamark and then in Basic Black before embossing in Clear.  The Versamark helps the Black ink stay open long enough to heat emboss.

After cutting out the sentiment with the 2″ Circle Punch, I was having trouble figuring out how/where to attach it.  Nothing seemed to look right.  Then, I hit upon the idea of using the scribble from Swirly Scirbbles.  I cut two of the the small scribble in Peekaboo Peach and adhered them to both the designer paper layer and the Vellum sentiment using Multipurpose Glue.  As you can see, I used one of the loops in the scribble to hold the sentiment – kind of like a fun paperclip.

In the end, I like the way that all of the elements in this card play with/compliment the circular motion in the designer paper pattern.  Cool!
