Badges and Banners Card for SIP57

The new year is already rolling.  The new school year that is.  My daughter and I went in to the high school to help prep the orchestra uniforms for the coming year.  It’s almost time to start fittings and for String Camp — the orchestra version of Band Camp.  And today we’re trying to get back on track with the things that need to be done in the next couple of weeks before she heads off to college.  We work a whole lot better with a schedule.  So, we’re trying to follow a daily “to do” list.  Otherwise — poof! and the day is gone.  We’ve both been reasonably productive today while also enjoying a bit of relaxation.  My productivity included card making.

I used Badges and Banners and the SIP57 challenge for today’s card.

I started with a Thick Whisper White cardstock base measuring 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2 and scored down the center.  Over that is a 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ Basic Black layer followed by a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Pop of Pink designer paper.

Next, I’ve added a Delicate White Doily and a piece of Pop of Pink washi.

Then, I stamped five of the striped badges from Badges and Banners in Basic Black on Whisper White.  The badges were punched with Best Badge.  Then, I snipped from the center of the bottom point up about a third of the way.  Using my Bone Folder I curled the badges back at the top by gently running the bone folder up the back of the badge.  After folding one snipped side across the other I added hot glue to hold the bottom together.

Placing a quarter size circle of hot glue on my Silicone Craft Mat allowed me to arrange my badge “petals” in the glue.  Once the glue had cooled I simply pulled the flower off of the mat.

For the flower center, I’ve added a 1″ Circle punch of Whisper White layered with  a 3/4″ Circle punch of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and five black Metallic Sequins.

After adding a Black Metallic Thread bow with a Glue Dot, I used a little hot glue to adhere the Badges and Banners flower to the doily.

I finished the card by adding a few white Metallic Sequins on the petals like dew and a few silver Metallic Sequins as accents.
