OSAT Blog Hop – Dog Days of Summer

One Stamp At a Time Blog Hop

Welcome to August’s Dog Days of Summer One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop.  Don’t forget to click “next” near the bottom of this post to continue on.

Our design challenge this month was to create something with animals — a wink at the dog days.

I decided this was the perfect time to really give my Balloon Builders stamp set a workout.

I came up with a whole slew of ideas for this stamp set.  But, some of them will have to wait for another time.

After seeing the variety that a quick play time produced, I decided the best way to share them was to create a Matching Game.  These are fun to make and of course the game is fun to play.

It can make a perfect gift for a young one now or the holidays — it’s not too soon to begin creating.

My first thought as I began to play with this stamp set was to think about what your favorite clown would make — you know the balloon animals you get at the fair.

With that in mind, I created a butterfly, poodle and my version of a wiener dog.

Now that my creativity was warmed up,

I was able to see a fish, giraffe and cow in those stamps.

And, I kept going.

Next, I found an octopus, an elephant and a teddy bear hiding in the stamps.

And can you believe it? There’s more!

My last share for today, is this long legged bird — you can decide what kind it is.

I stamped two of each animal on Whisper White cardstock and added them to some plain 4″ x 4″ coasters I had on hand.  On the opposite side I’ve used a 2″ x 4″ piece of Playful Palette designer paper and a 2″ x 4″ piece of Emerald Envy cardstock.  I thought this created a fun back side to the cards and meant that there was enough of one pattern in the paper stack to cover up to 16 cards with one pattern.  For my 20 cards, I’ve used two patterns that are similar enough to keep the matching game challenging from the back side.

Thanks for stopping by!
