OSAT Blog Hop – Shabby Chic

One Stamp At a Time Blog Hop

Welcome to the July OSAT Blog Hop!

This month, we’ve each made things to reflect the Shabby Chic style.

For my creations, I concentrated on color

Soft Sky Whisper White Pink Pirouette Flirty Flamingo

and used the Picture Perfect stamp set.

My first project is card.

This card  starts with a 5-1/2″ x 11″ Soft Sky cardstock base that has been scored down the center.

Then, I added a 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ layer of Whisper White.  Before adhering this layer, I took the edge of one blade of my Paper Snips and distressed the outside of the piece.

Next, I have another piece of Whisper White which measures 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Using the rose from Picture Perfect, I created my own “designer” paper.  The design is randomly stamped.  Stamp one was inked in Pink Pirouette.  Stamp two was also inked in Pink Pirouette.  Layering the same color over itself intensifies the color in the placed the images overlap.  Stamp three from Picture Perfect was inked in Flirty Flamingo and stamped off before completing each rose.

Once the stamping was completed, the outside edges of this layer were also distressed.

Now, this is my first run at purposely creating something that is Shabby Chic.  Part of the design principles seem to be lots of soft, delicate/feminine layers.  So with that in mind, I added a Delicate White Doily to the center over which is layered a Bloomin’ Heart die cut from Vellum.  Over towards the lower right of this pair, I’ve added four small flowers in Whisper White also cut using a die from Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits.

I’ve finished by adding a band of 5/8″ Organza Ribbon tied in a triple bow.

I moved on from my card to a simple piece of table decor.

This pretty little tableware holder, starts with a Soft Sky Treat Bag.

After assembling the treat bag, I made an 1-1/2″ slit down each seam starting at the top of the bag.  Then, I scored a line across the front of the bag from slit to slit before cutting a diagonal piece off of either end of the flap you’ve just created.  You’ll want to cut five points over from either end  and cut diagonally from the fifth point out and up to the corner of the flap.

At the bottom, I cut 1/4″ off – basically the amount of the bottom tab covers when the gift bag is assembled.

Next, I added half a Delicate White Doily.

Then, I wrapped 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon around the tableware holder and tied a half bow before angle cutting both ends.

I inked up Picture Perfect as in the card above and stamped two complete flowers on Whisper White.

I cut the bottom three petals off of one flower.  Placing them upside down on my Stampin’ Pierce Mat, I used the back end of my Paper Piercer and rubbed the outside edge of the petals to give them some dimension.  Then, I placed a Dimensional in this raised area before attaching each of the petals to the whole flower.

After adding a strip of Tear and Tape next to the underside of the flap, I adhered it in the folded down position.  Finally, I attached the flower to the left hand corner of the flap to finish my utensil holder.
