A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop-A Sara Thing Kit

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop Header

Welcome to the first A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop!!  We are so excited to be here sharing lots of alternate ideas for using your Paper Pumpkin Kit.  This month, we’re sharing ideas for the “A Sara Thing” kit!!  It was plenty exciting all on it’s own but, you’ll want to take a peek at what we’ve come up with!!

I had such fun playing with the various elements that came in the kit.

First, I added half a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock

 – as it’s a coordinating color –

for the base.

Then, I used part of one of the Basic Black card bases

in the kit as a layer to which I added a piece of the diagonally striped washi.

Next, I took one of the blank pieces of watercolor paper in the kit

and drew on a random design using

one of the watercolor pencils (they were a free gift this month).

Using the included paintbrush, I dragged a light bit of water

over the hand drawn design to make it bleed slightly.

After I stamped the sentiment words on a piece of

Whisper White (also included in the kit), I used

the Stampin’ Trimmer to carefully

trim out the words

before adding them with dimensionals.

The glittery flower seems like an asterisk for “best” – kind of highlighting that word.

Finally, I took one of the envelopes

and carefully opened it.

The flap design is printed on the whole of the reverse side!

So, I turned the envelope inside out and glued it back together.

Next, I made a mini book.

Again, I used one of the Basic Black card bases

from the kit and cut it down.

Then, I had some fun adding color to one of the

embossed, watercolor paper hearts

found in the kit.

I LOVE the bright green (Lemon Lime Twist) on this months kit!

It also appears on the die cut leaves and envelopes provided.

But, there was no Lemon Lime Twist watercolor pencil.

Watercolor brush and pencils from Paper Pumpkin A Sara Thing

Technique Tip: Taking the clear block, I brushed on some water.  Then, I scribbled in the water with my Daffodil Delight pencil followed by the Pacific Point pencil.

It takes a moment before color begins to appear.

Using the brush, I swirled the color together

and voila I had Lemon Lime Twist-ish color to paint onto

the watercolor heart.

After I had added it in a few sections, I scribbled in some

Rich Razzleberry and used a clean, wet brush

to move some of the color around

so that you get two tones.

Once I added a piece of washi to the base,

the heart was ready to be attached.

For the inside,

I traced the heart three times onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.

Then, I used my Paper Snips to cut them out

but also leave them attached to each other.

After stamping the sentiment words in Basic Black,

I wanted to use the splatter stamp — but in a different color.

Technique Tip: I dampened the clear block and scribbled on Rich Razzleberry pencil.  Then I used the Rich Razzleberry puddle as an ink pad and inked up the splatter.

The Rich Razzleberry pencil was also used to outline the edge of each heart.

Tip: Use a ruler as a guide to make this easier.

After adhering the top heart to the base, I added a piece of the washi.

And finally, I cut out the border of one of the die cut leaves and added it around “love”

before filling it in with Fine Tip Glue.

It looks like a little epoxy or enamel accent!

Now, it’s time to hop along to Cindy and see the wonderful thing she has come up with.
