1 Day Until Sale-A-Bration with One Big Sale-A-Bration MDS Download

I have two My Digital Studio classes coming up.  In fact, the Introduction to My Digital Studio  3 Part Series begins this evening.  And, RSVP’s for the Digital Art for Kids class close on February 1.

If you haven’t played with the My Digital Studio program, you really should.  There’s even a 30 day free trial.  So, you can try it on your own or sign up for one of my classes where I walk you through using the program.

Why would you want to use it?  You can: create on the fly; take it with you when you can’t carry traditional tools; create items that aren’t available in traditional products; create and professionally print custom scrapbooks, journals, scrapbook pages, recipe books, note cards, calendars, etc.; create flyers; create gifts; create custom pieces for a birthday, wedding or other special event….really the list goes on.

Today, I decided to create with the One Big Sale-A-Bration download.  It’s free with a qualifying purchase during Sale-a-Bration and contains many of the exclusive Sale-a-Bration products in a digital format.  As I began creating today, I wasn’t really sure where I was going.  This is often the case when I choose digital.  The great thing is I don’t have to know.  If I add an element or color and don’t like it, I simply delete or “undo” it and try something else.  It’s a very forgiving way to create.  I ended up making a kind of funky bookmark for my reader girl.  Reading is fun but a cool bookmark makes it even better.

One Big Sale-A-Bration Bookmark

So let’s start from the bottom and talk about what we have.  At the top, I’ve used a Packed for You punch and filled it with Coastal Cabana.  I then cropped the punch so that it would not extend past my next layer.  Up one layer is a square punch that I’ve pulled into a rectangular shape and filled with Basic Black.  Over it I added some Ink Splatters #4 in Summer Starfruit. Next is a half circle punch filled with Sweet Sorbet digital designer paper.  I added a flower stamp from Petal Parade and colored it with Riding Hood Red and applied a drop shadow.  Then, I added the arrow stamp from Petal Parade.  After flipping it, I used the coloring tool to color the individual pieces of the arrow different shades.  I used Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Strawberry Slush and Calypso Coral, leaving some Basic Black.  Finally, I added a couple of embellishments.  There’s the row of cork half circles at the top of the Basic Black layer and the pieces of Crisp Cantalope baker’s twine hanging from below the arrow.  Everything here is digital.  But, you could decide to make this a hybrid project after printing it out on cardstock.  Maybe stitch on a button at the top with some of the Gold Baker’s Twine and create a little tassel.  This would be great for keeping that bookmark from getting lost in your book.

The reader girl loved this.  I hope you’ll give My Digital Studio a whirl as I think you’ll love it.  If you didn’t sign up for this series of My Digital Studio classes, I hope I’ll see you next time.
